Germany-based DHL will acquire Cryoport’s CRYOPDP, a specialty courier providing logistics services for clinical trials, biopharma and cell and gene therapies.

The deal also involves a strategic partnership between DHL and Cryoport, designed to strengthen their supply chain service offerings for the global life sciences and health care sectors. For Cryoport, the partnership with DHL will enable it to better execute its business in EMEA and APAC regions.

CRYOPDP was acquired by Cryoport in 2020 in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $53 million (€49 million). CRYOPDP specializes in providing white-glove courier services essential to the sectors it serves. With operations in 15 countries, the company handles over 600,000 shipments per year, servicing over 135 countries.

DHL Group, which already has an established life sciences and health care business, will use the acquisition to enhance its capabilities in specialized pharma logistics and expand the breadth of its offerings.
