Cellares and Seoul National University Hospital announced a partnership to evaluate automated manufacturing for a gene-modified hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) therapy targeting paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare blood disorder, on Cellares’ Cell Shuttle platform.
The collaboration will evaluate the translation of SNUH’s gene-modified HSPC manufacturing process to the Cell Shuttle, with a focus on supporting a two-step transfection workflow. Cellares will support preclinical development and IND-enabling manufacturing workflows for SNUH’s PNH program, with the goal of establishing a scalable manufacturing strategy for future U.S. clinical development.
The tie-up marks Cellares’ second collaboration in Asia. Cellares recently announced a partnership with Taiwanese cell therapy company GenomeFrontier Therapeutics to evaluate automated manufacturing for the company’s investigational CAR-T cell therapy.
The partnerships are good news for Cellares, after having to reduce headcount in August after BMS pulled out of a $380 million capacity reservation and supply agreement.
