Head of GMP Facility and QP
University Hospital Erlangen
Dr Aigner is a biologist with a PhD in medical microbiology from University Hospital Regensburg. Since joining University Hospital Erlangen in 2008, he has focused on adoptive T-cell therapy, led clinical trials of antigen- and multivirus-specific T cells, and established one of Germany’s first academic GMP laboratories for CAR T-cell manufacturing. His teams have produced CAR T and TRUCK cell therapies for more than 100 patients across cancer and autoimmune indications, including first-in-world treatments for systemic lupus erythematosus. Dr. Aigner serves on the medical faculty in Erlangen and participates in national and international cell and gene therapy organizations, including EBMT, ISCT, and the Bavarian Cancer Research Center’s GMP group.

  • Case Studies in Engineering Defined Cell Compositions for CAR-T Therapies

    Thursday, October 22, 2026
Cell therapy manufacturing must account for biological variability while consistently delivering products with defined cellular composition and functional performance. Join researchers from University Hospitals Erlangen and Bionoveo as they share case studies on phenotype-based cell selection in T-cell manufacturing, including CD4:CD8 ratio control, and see how Sony Biotechnology's CGX10 Cell Isolation System supports next-generation T-cell therapy manufacturing.
